I think calf trade although still great eased a touch last week, perhaps everybody was haymaking but a few centres were a touch backI've been a bit slow this week, no excuse but I've been on silage duties.
Whitland Calf Report: Tuesday 21st August 2020
Less calves on the previous week’s bumper entry and possibly an easier trade on recent weeks also. Still some very impressive prices with the best quality ranging from £250 to £500. Top price if the day was a very showy Blue heifer from Hughes, Hafod at £500, who also sold a Blue bull calf at £490. Black and Whites were again hotly contested for averaging £85 and reaching a high of £130.
The Angus sired calf promotion at week 3 saw some quality calves forward with both bull and heifer calves selling over £300. Angus bull calves averaged £241 and the top price rosette and prize money went to Langdon Mill Farms Ltd for their £345 bull calf.

I wasn’t aware of having any fancy cattle. It costs more money to feed a bad one than it does to feed a good one.the grade is not important its what profit you make out of the animal that is the important bit,
no good chasing fancy cattle at any cost any more than it is chasing fancy women till you be bankrupt
It might just be the festival to blame for that hopefully temporary. They bought too many for last one.Deadweight for lambs is back 10ppk for tomorrow morning!
