J36 store cattle have been a good trade, the edge is off them at the moment, the better cattle were better value today, some plain common things look very dear in comparison.
Thirsk cattle must have been a very good trade going by what mine sold for today.
Aye softer type grazing cattle would be easier bought in Ayr today. Big cattle and outwintered types still a big trade.

Strange how trade is different from mart to mart

It might be me but I often think places can go 'stale' especially if numbers start to drop/there isn't the impetus to push on and expand. Whilst trade can pick up elsewhere those places tend to accept that the price they were is what they are and things just stagnate. Also think that it never hurts for auctioneers to visit other places to keep their finger on the pulse but that's just me.

There’s folks I know buy sheep out of certain auctions and sell them in others
They have done it for years so must pay

Depends how good the auctioneer is and how whether they let the buyers mess them about.

Massive sale at mcCartneys Brecon tomorrow of show cattle and store cattle all streamed live and i see Hereford has a record entry of 1200 cattle a week today. Do many markets still have a draw to determine where they start the sale? Brecon still use it and im not for or against, just asking.
