Its not the breeders that need to remember this its the buyers, we breed what makes us the most money and that seems to be lambs with bony heads
Your are correct and in my opinion that is why the NCM is loosing ground to the Cheviot mule and the NCM is increasingly used to breed texel cross breeding ewe rather than being the first choice breeding ewe itself.

Im not knocking anyone that wants to breed the quality sale topping lambs, we all need a bit of pride, its what keeps us going. . ...but maybe that type isnt as far ahead of the North of England mule type as first appears!
I think you are right, we haven’t bought any mules for a good few years and percentage dropping as we get nearer the texel.

I think you can go 2 generations towards texel from a lot of mules nowadays without too many problems. Yours look to have good body so I would say only one generation in.

texel x mule is a super sheep imo. Just have to watch the bags
