Would they not drop a bit this time of year?
Next week will be the telling more for down here, been a good bit weather, markets is not on people's mind at the moment maybe. Looks wetter next week.

Not as fast and as hard as this!

Weather was crap last weekend and that is when the price crashed.

None of the big dealers have any orders for cattle and most of the large farmer buyers week in/out are not that bothered if they get cattle or not.

Some today drive 3 hours to get to Sedge, would normally stay to the end and as hungry from the first lot to the last but today just bought a few then went home and that was the same last weekend.

Whitland don't look too bad for mostly dairy bred.

The new normal currently is stirks at or below their value of 12 months ago!

Store cattle would be very similar to the above as well.

3 markets now this week that several store cattle have gone home unsold.

Very smart suckle bred 8 month old steers today struggled to get to ÂŁ660 and them and the heifers from the same farm went home unsold.

Store cattle wise very strong circa 600+ kilo suckler bred steers are now only worth around ÂŁ1070 at best!

Plenty of strong heifers circa 20 months old now only making mid to late ÂŁ700's at best.

If anyone else posts this, you'd bitch that they were talking the trade down!!

You say on more than one occasion the price has “crashed” and then speak of large stores being back £100 over a 3 week period. Is this not the case of “back end comes every year”and also some reality coming into the trade as a result of corn and fert prices.
Sounds more like a backend adjustment rather than a crash in cattle trade

Not a crash as such i agree but the cattle dropped ÂŁ160+ in one week not 3 weeks which is one hell of a drop!

May be a backend adjustment but it wont help the rearers of these store cattle who themselves have much increased costs on 12 months ago but selling at prices at or below prices 12 months ago!

I actually think people should hold the young cattle if they can possible do so as the trade will rise back up again, be that pre or post xmas!
