There will be brass in them.Looking at the Southern reports cattle are definitely cheaper in the North. My steers yesterday beef bred R grades hard sorts frame no flesh 14-18 month averaged £775, £2.10/kg. Had to be selective but that’s always the case isn’t it?
I would think so but they don’t want to be any more. Silage is plentiful but fodder beet is in the mid thirties, cereals, well enough said, bread I was told is £168 and rising. At least oats are still cheap but there’s no guarantees with the beef price. Retail prices are rising on the back of increased costs but only a fool would think they will just pass it down the line to us they will be covering their own backsThere will be brass in them.
Got to be fair to Hfd their reports are generally how it was on that dayYou actually go by the market report?

Yes been many a time and always come back with a trailer load. Not been for a couple of yrs though . There were a lot that used to go from around here but not quite so many now . They seem to drift over to Whitland moreYep assessment of a market is best done by someone that has been there.
Not sure if @Hfd Cattle has been to sedgemoor market ?
I wouldn't give an assessment of Hereford market, I have been there though, bought some heifers and I am a tight wod so must have been an off day
Yeah, and its usually me thats selling it !Theres one bargain to be had at every market i was once told!

Ahh you managed to buy some from sedge, perhaps trade had dropped that week LOLYes been many a time and always come back with a trailer load. Not been for a couple of yrs though . There were a lot that used to go from around here but not quite so many now . They seem to drift over to Whitland more
Usually being sold by someone who isn’t there or not prepared to help them along. I was in market last week and someone (with poor lambs) was moaning they where sold to cheaply, I asked why they didn’t help them along even if they had to take them home.Theres one bargain to be had at every market i was once told!
Your back !Many a time you read the market report and think was the author at the same sale.
Job to see how cattle would lose money the way beef price has been, more likely he bought the wrong cattle for the job and/or just paid way over the odds on the day tbh. Smaller average stores always get less money after the spring trade and during harvest and then dont really fire up again until planting/maize and spuds are finished and folks start filling sheds again imoTalking to someone this morning..who had not been to Market for 5 weeks, his view is that cattle are well over 100quid a head less than they were then...all except the very forward cattle...which reallt follow the beef trade, and one guy i know who grazes conservation land...cant feed on it etc etc...well he was nearly in tears...lost a stack on 50 plus cattle
Yes but ignore the positive spin and study the facts which are the market averagesMany a time you read the market report and think was the author at the same sale.
There is a market round your neck of the woods thats "average" is a work of pure fictionYes but ignore the positive spin and study the facts which are the market averages
