There will be brass in them.
I would think so but they don’t want to be any more. Silage is plentiful but fodder beet is in the mid thirties, cereals, well enough said, bread I was told is £168 and rising. At least oats are still cheap but there’s no guarantees with the beef price. Retail prices are rising on the back of increased costs but only a fool would think they will just pass it down the line to us they will be covering their own backs

Like all markets, if your patient you can pick off things that are worth the money if your not proud! If you want your name in the paper and like looking at nice cattle as you drive up the yard then you’ve gotta dig deep to get’m!! Hereford has a good trade with anything on four legs but my comments above still apply!!

Yep assessment of a market is best done by someone that has been there.
Not sure if @Hfd Cattle has been to sedgemoor market ?
I wouldn't give an assessment of Hereford market, I have been there though, bought some heifers and I am a tight wod so must have been an off day ;) :giggle:
Yes been many a time and always come back with a trailer load. Not been for a couple of yrs though . There were a lot that used to go from around here but not quite so many now . They seem to drift over to Whitland more

Talking to someone this morning..who had not been to Market for 5 weeks, his view is that cattle are well over 100quid a head less than they were then...all except the very forward cattle...which really follow the beef trade, and one guy i know who grazes conservation land...cant feed on it etc etc...well he was nearly in tears...lost a stack on 50 plus cattle

Job to see how cattle would lose money the way beef price has been, more likely he bought the wrong cattle for the job and/or just paid way over the odds on the day tbh. Smaller average stores always get less money after the spring trade and during harvest and then dont really fire up again until planting/maize and spuds are finished and folks start filling sheds again imo
