if a price is more than 10-20% above the average price it should be in its own categoryI'm not very good at giving a market report but I would say the market report will read well for the vendors, with less top end stuff there in my opinion
There was an auctioneer at Carlisle 30 or so years ago could sell 200 per hour in days they got 1500 fat cattle a weekThere’s plenty of auctioneers can sell as many an hour and can be understood perfectly well. I mean talking slower not selling slower. Stephen Aitken could push 90 cows an hour through Darlington and I could always hear him clearly, and he was Scottish. He was some auctioneer.
Be lovely to see them days againThere was an auctioneer at Carlisle 30 or so years ago could sell 200 per hour in days they got 1500 fat cattle a week
Longtown fat sheep ring buzzing today.Alot of lambs in and plenty buyers.Seemed a good trade. Carlisle H @ H directors should have a look in to see how a fat sheep ring should look like.I saw some jersey bulls in Drayton the other week, god they were crap. £35-£40 each! I wouldn’t have given you the price of a cartridge for them! It was a farmer buying them so god knows what the idea is? Killing buyers were bidding £10-20
Would it?Be lovely to see them days again
Says more about the drovers than the auctioneer. There was an auctioneer at Carlisle 30 or so years ago could sell 200 per hour in days they got 1500 fat cattle a week
Need more than the 5 or so buyers that are around the rings today thoughBe lovely to see them days again
Fair point but everything being nailed down deadweight isn’t too great either. I think we might have seen a slight turn back to markets for fat cattle last two three yearsWould it?
There was too much stock about and things were worth next to nothing.
Firms would still need the cattle they would have to get out and bid for themNeed more than the 5 or so buyers that are around the rings today though
are you looking for some brownie pointsMattew Nichols in Hereford will take some beating . He will sell them as fast as they can get them in the ring .
A few lots did go home thoughI'm not very good at giving a market report but I would say the market report will read well for the vendors, with less top end stuff there in my opinion
Just pointing out a fact . . It's often the buyers that slow a market down . Most auctioneers know what the livestock is worth as soon as it comes in the ring . The 2 selling in Hfd are never very far wrong .are you looking for some brownie points
Some auctioneers aren’t strong enough for the buyers. A strong auctioneer who knows their beans with some tempo keeps the job rattling on.Just pointing out a fact . . Nothing better than selling when you have a good auctioneer. Chris Voyce at Cirencester can’t half rattle through sheep, doesn’t let the buyers have time to think about it and causes a buying frenzy because people done want to miss out. Some auctioneers aren’t strong enough for the buyers. I hear it’s a bit different now but it’s easy to rattle through them when your only knocking down to one buyer.Nothing better than selling when you have a good auctioneer. It’s different now. Really gets the bidders going well for stores and breeding sheep.I hear it’s a bit different now but it’s easy to rattle through them when your only knocking down to one buyer.
How are you getting on? Electric back on yet?I have a feeling it’s on the up
Has anyone any market reports from Darlington,Longtown yesterday? I see Thirsk averaged 307p although not many in. Must have been some trade. How are you getting on? Electric back on yet?
