It really pee'd me of the other day when someone starting talking bs that castration of lamb was bad welfare, having cull ewes and hogg's in lamb because you have 1000's of tup lambs roaming the country jumping in and out of groups of sheep getting them in lamb is far worse for welfare.

But sheep don’t escape or jump fences do they??

If you put 550 tup lambs behind electric there will definitely not be 550 there the next morning.

I’ve got a brother like that 2 new cars on the drive but go round for a beer and gives you 1/2 pint all night. Tight as ducks arse unless it’s something you can show off to the neighbours.

I had a little Welsh Hogg lamb a massive dead lamb yesterday, they were bought in, I’ll bag them from now on when I send them in, but who’s to blame there!! I’m not to know what the wànker before me did to them!!

I bought a ruck of mongrel crossbred lambs last February too finish a block of turnips off. Only been here a month and they started lambing! One of them is still here as a rum looking little shearling. But she’s a nice pair of lambs on her!

Must admit I haven’t been in for nearly 12 months. Wouldn’t be surprised if prices have lifted with energy costs

My mate set electric nets for blackies he now calls them the trawler nets

The Asians can’t magic culls ewes up from anywhere for their festival so have to pay the market price or they won’t get any.

Goes to show why marts are essential, the only chance we have of having any power over meat processors. If you want them you've got to bid for them!

Just noticed that Tesco results were out today, very good by all accounts but they have issued a profit warning going forward as they are keeping prices low. Well that just spells out what everyone knows. They can afford to absorb the cost now but couldn’t when we were being shafted for years.

Yes happy with them, there were a few Beltex lambs, a lot of 3/4 bred texels then a few big Suffolk and mule wethers at £122 that would have made more dead.

From what I’ve heard them big lambs aren’t much cop at Kirkby only the fancy little beltexs

Was there any crack why they had dropped back a bit? Sometimes the holidays conflict with killing dates.

Light lambs are a bit less too just average types not the fancy stuff

What actually is rebate? Iv lost 12-14kg over these two culls, @ £3.80 that's quite a bit of a nock!
