If they can't afford to finish cattle because of the price of cereals how rhe hell are the polish farmers making money on the eggs to be able to export them here? Or are they getting screwed even harder on those?
They say all sorts of things most of it shite. By saying they will import them they are just trying to get men over here to refill. I say try and see how many eggs you get. The polish have to eat too, there is a massive shortage of chicken over there due to feed/chick shortages I read and last thing I knew eggs come from chickens. Let’s see how long that lasts. Also by causing a mass eggsodus (sorry) there will be no egg for all the ready made food products they sell sales of which will dwarf the fresh egg income. They are getting backed into a corner and they know it IMO

There’s certainly something unusual going on in the beef trade at the moment ,the Irish price is on a par if not ahead of ours and last weeks kill in Ireland was 70,000 head up on the same week last year. Strange times indeed.
Would be a lot of out of spec cattle being slaughtered because it doesn't pay to keep feeding them at current cereal and concentrate prices. Many farmers just clearing them out.

Cutting there losses.

But at the same time today the supermarkets are saying they will need to import eggs from Poland as UK farmers cannot meet demand... Which translates in the real world to : The supermarkets are refusing to pay a price to UK egg producers that covers their costs and gives them a profit so the only option left to UK farmers is not to restock when their sheds are cleared out at the end of the cycle.
I’m told there are 3 farms within 5 miles that each have one free range hen shed empty As not financially viable to restock. Polish eggs my arse !

Is it because they aint making any money out them ? Or is their somethimg else ? Because i wouldnt want to base my future om sheep alone they could crash any day and 100% sheep not great for the land either .
Grandad has always told me, and continues too tell me… even if they don’t leave much money, the cattle leave a BIG pile of shite. And that’s worth more than gold too a heavy grass farm like ours. When you look at the spots that our kid has missed with the spreader and look at the difference in grass he’s definitely not wrong!!

I would not hold out for any hope of Gov help for the beef and sheep sectors!

They have made it clear for some time that they do not want meat livestock production in the UK
I’m quietly hoping that before long the shelves will run dry and the government will find out very quickly what the silent masses think of their food production policies. It’s alright then listening too the extremely vocal 1% but when the pee off the 99% properly they will be in for a shock
