Beef / Lamb & Pig Price Tracker

FFS .......

Dear Woodheads supplier,

In recognition of the great work being done by so many of you already on our Net Zero programme, we are today announcing a new ‘Sustainable Beef and Lamb Scheme’ for farmers. Participating farms will be asked to measure their carbon footprint by our carbon consultant company Map of Ag, test the health of their soils, audit their farm’s biodiversity, and monitor both resources and waste on their farms on an annual basis - and then develop resulting action plans.

We’re working with Red Tractor to assess the programme under their new ‘Environment’ module. This means that any accreditation you get can be used by you for any customer - not just Morrisons. We’re also going to cover the cost of accreditation from Red Tractor in the first year as part of the programme.

But that’s not all: we’re also going to be unveiling a list of free advice from trusted experts you can access as well as discounts on products and services available to farmers who are accredited on the programme.

And we’re starting to offer payment premiums for sustainable beef: this will launch with Morrisons contracted dairy beef suppliers, where a 10p/kg premium will be paid for any cattle finishing under 18 months’ old on a sustainable diet, who are also part of our net zero agriculture programme. We’ll also be extending premiums for suckler and store finisher cattle in the months to come.

We’ll be in touch in the coming weeks with full details about the standard, how you can take part, and importantly, how you can access the incentive packages that go with this.

We know that getting to net zero through sustainable farming is a challenge, but we want to continue to work with you to champion great British food from farms we know and trust.

Kind regards
Woodheads Livestock Team
Reminds me of around 30 years ago when we were sending lambs deadweight the processor brought in a new scheme, called farm assurance, all we had to do was sign up have our movement books, medicine book

Reminds me of around 30 years ago when we were sending lambs deadweight the processor brought in a new scheme, called farm assurance, all we had to do was sign up have our movement books, medicine book checked, sheep flock inspected ,for a extra 5p per kilo ,and 30 years later look we’re we are with that same scheme now called Red Tractor no premium, a whole heap of stupid rules which keeps on growing year on year ,so Woodheads suppliers beware you could be letting the genie out of the bottle the same as my father helped do 30 years ago

You have to wonder if it’s in some way political, has he been told to look after the Irish farmer and hold things down here. If beef doesn’t climb here there will be none left in a few years an he will have the job of filling the void with Irish/polish or wherever else he can set up a plant to take advantage of cheap labour an lower standards.

It is more likely that the Irish government know and our complicit in Larry having his foot on the neck of Irish farming. Given the circumstances, they may have just insisted he takes the pressure of a bit and let them take a few breathes.

They could have an eye on a possible trade war because the Brexit sea border dispute, importing beef would be mega mega expensive then

It looks like RT are already in on the job trying to make life harder for us and earning more for themselves.

I'm not sure what number "so many of our farmers" is, probably a lot less than they want. I did do the original footprint but wouldn't give them access to my BCMS info, I was hoping they would just ask me but alas it was BCMS or nothing, so nothing it is.
Map of Ag are a curious bunch hailing from NZ. Information gathering at it's very best insofar as we give them all the info, they sell it to whomever they want. Apparently it's all for our own good, information is valuable, especially when they have it given to them.
What a bunch of tossers, falling for the carbon con, going in with RT and making money out of our data while we pick up the bill for paying people to inspect us!

Sent cattle to them last week, £4.40 base, under 18Mth +10p, in scheme spec +10p.

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.
