Usually we can tell when prices are about to rise as the tankers start parking up in the bay near here. This 290m LNG tanker has been sat here near 2 weeks, there were 2 of them until a few days ago, 110920 tonnes cargo 😮 I’ll get a picture from 10 miles away tomorrow.

Do they delay offloading because they are waiting for the price to go up? What I mean is do they get paid the price on the day or is it pre agreed?

Large ewe breeding sale at Exeter today.

Sounds like you could buy very good shearlings for £180 - £200 head and only the very top end above £200 head, poorer stuff £140-50 head from the sound of the report on FB tonight!
That doesn't sound that bad, those poor type of shearlings where only worth £120/£130 a month ago in the fat. Funning time to be selling breeding stock between the people wanting them to eat grass and getting ready for tupping.

We are usually all ears for Bicester we use that as a marker for the coming back end trade.
The biggest thing that effects it as a rule is droughty conditions

Have you ever been?
I usually go for the day (was better when it was all on one day though), mules are usually a bit select because who wants mules in august when they don't need to go to tup until November. Mate of mine buys 200 ordinary Suffolk cross there every year and picks up 150 of my tail end at the same price on the way home.

Yeah it makes a huge difference, not unusual to have 10 crude oil tankers and 1 big LNG tanker waiting for the price to rise, at the moment there is 2 small crude oils, 1 massive crude oil, the big LNG pictured above and overnight a 340m, 170k tonne LNG has come in to offload

No I’ve never been. Intended going for years but it always clashes with silage here or shearing at times. One year after working some long shifts silaging I went to book the train to go and it was £500 ish so never bothered that was the closest I’ve been to going.
Is there any bargains or is it a dear enough sale right through?

Fuel may be hugely expensive but there's no less vehicles on the road . Can't see the GVT doing too much cos they raking it in and it's easy money .
Had a guy here from cambridge , fair drive , said roads were dead and weatherby services empty been coming up here for 30 year and never seen weatherby services so dead , so I was surprised to see you say that .

That’s interesting to hear this. Shipping can’t be cheap so it must pay for them to hang off. Just shows how it all gets so dear by the time it gets to the pump

Some will park for a week or 2 no problem, I know someone who traded crude oil and gas when he worked on the stock exchange, the smallest rise like literally $1/barrel of oil would make a huge difference. I remember he said he sent a fair sized tanker from near Holland around South Africa and back up to Singapore as he managed to fix a price which warranted the journey 😮 iirc it was 3 weeks sailing before the tanker got there 🤦🏻‍♂️

We do wonder if it’s coordinated though and they purposely hold off to make the price rise as whenever a lot are parked here the price rises a few pence

Crikey just shows. I find this very interesting just goes to show what goes on and probably why the price gets to where it is.

Surpose its a double whammy , dear fuel to haul dear fuel ^^^^^^
There was a haulier rang up the other day from down the road said there was a boat load of Maize in teesport the other day was delayed a bit while unloading they were carting it away with a number of artics day and night just a few mile lead anyway someone got a 90k bill off the shipping company for the delay

To be fair the price on the pump doesn’t often move the same as crude oil price does. This isn’t something new, this has been common since before my time. When the invasion of Iraq (2002?) was about to begin was the most we saw, several Aircraft Carriers also parked up and the tankers knew something was happening so they held out a long time, once the armies invaded crude oil price rocketed as Iraq couldn’t export and within days all of the tankers unloaded
