What were the wynnstay totes quote for?

We'll meet halfway, £150 plenty
Good price for a lamb

3 * £150 = £450 per ton for barley. As said I'd settle for £300.

Its actually a very good deal, the last thing sheep farmers want is arable farmers going into sheep big time & they won't be breeding Swaledales.

I'm planning to increase my flock by 25%, arable so terrible at the moment.

I must admit my finishing blend is £80 a tonne less than some of those but I have to pick it up in full trailer loads
I'm horrified at the price of sheep rolls.

For hoggs, oats in hoppers must be an option?

I like to throw ewe rolls on the floor to save my old knees, but big saving to use an oat based ration.

Those with other enterprises are feeder wagons good for sheep or do they just pick out the nice bits?

Seriously? Arable farmers going into sheep! Behave!🤣

I'm confident they will choose to spend their time browsing bird seed catalogues over wire & stake publications. Much more lucrative for much less unsociable work.
I think some will go down the joint venture route, rent land on FBT to sheep farmers who have planted trees or rewilded. Will suit both parties.

Different for me, I have sheep anyway so just need to up them a bit. No brainer with herbal leys, grants for infra structure & the prospect of 1st wheats after grazing & worm free (well almost) grazing for young lambs.

You would need to know something about it first
If you knew something about it you would know that you couldn’t successfully breed Swaledales on arable land even if you wanted to but that’s not for me to be saying it
You will be telling us you are going to be buying a suckler herd next and sitting up all night calving cows
All for the love of £200 on a store beast and 35p a kilo on a fat hogg
Crikey things must be bad
It’s hard work you know
I bet it’s even harder work when you aren’t used to doing it
