Will there be any shearlings about that have been run dry all summer come autumn sales?
friend of mine had a ruck of good quality NZ suff x mule hoggs he was going to run through , most sold now , said wasnt going to keep all summer and get £150 in autumn maybe , been caught to many times in past . Its not a criticism ,but people buying replacements need to bear this in mind next sales season we all likea bargain but killing hoggs (or lambs previous summer) have been in the £150s at some point in the spring for a few years now , breeders need an incentive to keep something to farm all summer

Trouble is- some of the guys (not all but some) who sell all there lambs in the Autumn aren’t seeing this high lamb trade yet, if stores are averaging £85 next autumn that farmer can’t budget his replacements in on fat lambs at £160
Hopefully this trade will be still flying and everyone will see the benefits

Same applies ,everyone in the chain needs an incentive not just the store lamb buyers , they have done pretty well over the last few years i know its a lot of work but time to pass a bit back to the breeders. Maybe time to hard feed your lambs and not sell store ,i will be this year , only way to push the store price up
