I'd be tempted, if it wasn't a rented farm. I'm buggered if I'm putting any buildings up here though, just to leave them for the landlord when my term is up.

Oh I see , would he not be happy to have buildings , ie contribute or something .?

Seems to be a new trend of it dropping at this time , the money is bound to run out .Im just telling you what i have been told by someone that buys/sells a lot in straw/ hay/silage etc to both farmer buyers and dealers.
They work on Comm and nothing else so actually make less money the lower the price is.
I was actually very surprised when they told me the price of straw had dropped and certainly not what i was expecting to hear ( i actually thought if anything it would be dearer given with the crap weather we currently are having and the amount of straw lorry's on the roads the last two weeks )
ive said it before on here it dosnt matter what the price is if it aint there.Im just telling you what i have been told by someone that buys/sells a lot in straw/ hay/silage etc to both farmer buyers and dealers.

Did you see any full or broke in lamb mules sold?Pretty good from what I saw, did not stay to see most sold, was a slow start but there were some runs of very decent ewes that made OK money.
Some one I know sold about 150 ewes of various types and ages, nothing special at all and pretty much 80% bought out of the cull lines at Exeter/Sedge back in Aug....so prob average about £70 bought. Every pen was over £100 other than his last at £98. Some made £120.
Good solid meat making ewes were a good trade though, Good few at £170, loads at £150.
you will see how much its gone down then, i very much doubt it has cus it aint there.Ha ha i wish i could as i need to buy a lot myself

Some were £135 last month, so no change.I agree but if it is not there why have these straw dealers dropped their price and the £13/140 is actually what they charged for delivered in loads this week!
Logic would be if their supply is very short they would hold out for £160t which is what they were quoting last month but getting few people buying.
Like you i don't actually think there is much straw sat in sheds that has not be accounted for.
Sometimes It takes a clever man too know when too fold and revert to what’s known too work! All I know is that a few years ago I had designs on being the next BQP and had a few farmers rearing and finishing for me on contract. It was all very exciting having pigs all over Norfolk and Suffolk but not profitable enough to sustain the high borrowings and I got out of it before it finished me and I reverted to selling weaners to people more clever than me.
i wouldnt ask our custoumers 160 but we dont have to buy it we can get more ex farm off a dealer than we are delivering 40- 50 miles to our loyal customers (friends) i doubt they appriciate it!I agree but if it is not there why have these straw dealers dropped their price and the £13/140 is actually what they charged for delivered in loads this week!

Why's straw droppedThey would just about go deadweight but certainly not liveweight!
Only 995 store lambs penned, if they were about this trade would certainly draw them out.
Even more good news for the hard pressed beef/sheep sectors as i have just been told straw is dropping in price, delivered is back £20 ton already this week to £130/40 for barley delivered into Devon this week.
We often have enough of our own straw but no chance this year with the disastrous harvest. I'll have to get GUTH to find some to send up here. Gonna be bedding with hay soon!!There’s one of @Raider112 problems solved
recon your right , on above consultation , can see large areas of marginal arable going , which will affect grain and straw pricePersonally i think the days of cheap straw are over!
( and i say that as someone who buys a lot every year )
