What's a farmer's time worth?

£9.50 an hour minimum wage.
However it is now £10.50 as that is what the Government told the fruit and veg farmers they have to pay for those people that are given visas to come here to work.
That was a great idea as it instantly upped the pay of all the other workers who were permanent staff!!

I wonder how many on here actually earn more than £25 k and only work a 37 hour week?

I had mine to £400 last winter think £500 will be nearer this time and of course there’s always something I will have missed in the first place

I've just checked now for 2020/21 mine came to just under £610 but that includes keeping their calf from weaning through to finish as well. So we're pretty close I'd say.

Most of these guys have some sort of outside income....i could go around the ring at Sedgemoor and point out 3/4 who are in that bracket....

I don’t know many farmers that can buy farms in cash purely made from farming. And I know plenty.

37 hours!!! What do they find to do for the other 5 days

Mine arnt even fat .

Most of mine aren't either but bought a little native Angus bull to breed a bit of fat into them so they are cheaper to keep over winter. 50kg of fat on the back of a cow is a lot of cheap stored feed if she has put it on with grazed grass over spring and summer.
Try and bring that £2-3 a day down.

They make me happy , its the happy ones that all their hens lay double yokers that depress me , make me wonder what I do wrong .
