They were wanting to silage again but given up that idea so plenty grass.

They might make some noise in the pub but they can’t half grow good grass

The grass that's here this Autumn is high protein, low energy, green water tbh. It's good for growing frame on, but certainly not for finishing.

Ewe lambs on 2nd year seeds are doing far better, such is the difference in feed quality.

Good way to get energy int them, but be crazy money surely. It wouldn't flow well through a hopper with this weather either. So damp here that my indoor hopper had condensation inside the lid this afternoon. SBP would be climbing out the top!

No idea until we're finished. Some feed has going in an outside hopper to get the next lot used to it, other going in the shed, and lambs now on a production cycle drawing a load a week.
Another 200 wormed into the shed this afternoon. Those already inside have been piling weight & condition on, those outside with a hopper on old grass, not so much.

I don’t like them on hoppers outside, especially this time of the year. They probably lost weight on Friday and the wet feed was to scrape out of the hoppers. First time I haven’t had a building to put them in, never sold store before, but I think this may be the year some go that way.

15% fattner nut of nwf is £306 now. Seams to be canny stuff.

I don't either, but was an attempt to get them nibbling a bit before housing them. I don't think many have, preferring to eat the old grass and drink flood water.

Mine eat that much outside on hoppers they don’t mind when it gets wet like Friday they just slurp the liquid up so usually keeps going a few blackie and Swale tups in amongst them bang it down if it stops

Calves a great trade in Huntly today. We topped at £1380 for a pen of four.

We fed nothing but SBP to lambs, hoggs and feeding ewes for years and years when it was a cheap good feed. We found it priced itself out a few years back.
