Before I call the vets

Noticed this on one of my heifers last week. Initially thought it was mud or a stone but it’s not.
Can’t see exactly where it is coming from as she won’t let me very close to her. It’s on her underside by the udder. Mastitis?

I’ve had a similar looking thing I’ve just looked back in my records. Vet said “papilloma lumps, benign lumps, tumours”
I didn’t call the vet out she was here anyway, no treatment. I did send mine away fat though so I can’t say what happened to the lumps.

I’ve sent the photo to the vets to see what they say. I managed to get a quick feel before she went to kick me (or it might have been she was trying to kick the Shetland pony who was taking an opportunistic moment to steal her food). But it wasn’t solid but wasn’t soft either. Might try and get her in tomorrow and see if I can get a better look.

Go with the flow and see what happens ; doesn't look a mega issue . Maybe not wise to plan to sell as a store , but likely ok as finished , Had a heifer with a haemoetoma a few years ago , and she went away finished , no probs .....

forgot to reply back - vets took a look at the photo and confirmed papilloma and said to leave it be but watch it as the weather warms up incase it bursts as will attract flies

thanks all!

I’m sure we had one cut off a few years ago on a store calf. Another grew in a different place within weeks.

Sorry had not seen the further replies. Yes vet said to to the same with a ring but it’s too big for it.
Use a large/strong elastic band and tie it tightly around it, will work the same as a ring,
Same principle as used to be used to dock pups tails when it was allowed.

If some of these growths have a narrow neck and don't seem attached a ring might not cause the necessary constriction, I've used fishing line with a moderate breaking strain, 4 -5 days they are gone, seldom leaves a mark.
