Best bank

Well, well, well .. learn something new every day. I'd never heard of them and I certainly didn't know about their agricultural links.

I've always been a bit suspicious of Triodos bank since I looked into them and discovered they were founded on the principles of Rudolf Steiner. A friend got mixed up with new age Steiner malarky, and it wasn't very clever. The movement, which includes biodynamic farming, is based on some very odd early 20th century beliefs which border on the occult :)

Barclays Bank CEO Anthony Jenkins sacked by Board despite returning the bank to profit and because he won't implement wholesale reductions of front line bank workers at the expense of service and (coming from the retail side of banking) doesn't want to go back to driving the "growth" and success of the bank on Casino investment bank division

Hmm. Sounds like just the sort of level headed boss the bank and the Country really needs

Agreed, £ 6 billion profit is just not enough for some people

Good two year fee free period for new accounts. Have not been in to ask for a loan yet, so not sure how they perform on that front.

However, surely a Bankster is a Bankster no matter what name is over the door? :greedy::wideyed::eek::banghead:

Heard yesterday that banks are being very tight on tenants. putting them all in a high risk group. i think the next 12 months will tell how friendly the banks really are!

NFU were shouting about how the banks are going to do fee free loans to tide farmers over when the BPS payments are late. very kind of the banks, but i bet the interest rates will be higher! No such thing as a free lunch!

Was actually in the other day not sure just browsing about, we're with the ulster. Its just a sales pitch then the bank man decides whether they like you or not and then whether the books add up. The less you have to do with banks the better imo. I have sat through a couple of heated discussions with a bank manager and my father over the years. My father is a bit of a character and prefers his bank managers to have a bit of spine and not one of these computer says no types, somebody he can develop a business relationship with.

I always thought Barclays were good when we banked with them, but when our manager moved to HSBC we decided to move too; in my opinion and for our business the service, support and of the right person at the right time is superb with HSBC and I wouldn't go back. I also could not ask more of HSBC than the service we receive.

Been with Lloyds for eons, father has and grandfather, have to say they have been very good, had agg manager who was lovely but hard to get out the house before lunchtime, just as he used to get in his car, he'd mention the OD and did we wish to change it.
In the last 4 years I have had 4 different agg managers and just been informed I have another one now, it's tiresome, call centre no help at all and I suspect in the future I may well change, but then who too?? If I could keep a Agg manager for longer than a year then I would be a happy chappy

I use Barclays Bank my Manager is very good he's a realist he points out what may happen if things go west . I used to be with HSBC many years ago and was happy but they took a new guy on to do the Ag side and I didn't like him too much so moved banks . A lot of people I know bank with Barclays in my area (NE England) and are reasonably happy !
Often if a bank will not lend money it's because the business idea dosent stack up . ie renting land at £180 per acer
