I need a vice for my workshop at home, not farm use so nothing really heavy duty just car stuff

What’s the best option please ?

I recall seeing one at a show a while back that could be angled etc that looked handy but can’t recall the brand

Cheap and useable, something by Record, pre Irwin.

New, perhaps Yost.

I'd say that would be an excellent vice to have due to the adjustable angles, choice of jaw and the little anvil.......BUT......
Do you want soft jaw adapters for the vice and are they available?...... I would say @Clive would need them..... and would you like to have a quick release lever because they make life so much easier and quicker with an item that's wants to wobble, twist and fall apart as you tighten it?

I treated myself to a leinen parallel vice a few years ago and I get on really well with it. It opens up a long way and is also very stable being on a dovetail bed. The only thing to remember is that it’s the rear jaw that moves so hanging wide stuff below the bench can’t be done, but this has never been a problem for me. They also make a nice adjustable stand.
