Obviously you have to look at a veg craft then as mentioned a Bailey but then there's Philip Watkins and Easterby. When you see those plastic tanks advertised in the fw would you consider building your own? Are you looking at prefixing chemical etc or just purely to carry large volumes of water and liquid fert and boxes of chemical.

It really depends if you've got a spare man who will prepare pre-mixed loads or you just want a mobile tanker? Both is possible but quite a beast. Some people do spend serious £££ on them like the Bateman one in this months Arable Farmer. I think for efficiency of sprayer then @tomh system or a Vegcraft with mixing system would work well but then also depends on farm layout and road network etc etc. Personally would buy stainless over plastic tanks. (But then I also bought a CS!)

Clive,
If you have a decent low loader then mount a big Enduramaxx tank or similar on that, main thing is keep the centre of gravity low as possible. We use a plastic tank with about two hundred baffle balls inside to stop it pushing around the grain trailer its bolted to inside.
Thinking about it, a decent grain trailer has everything you need, sprung drawbar, wide tyres ALB etc, the tanks can come with extra long subframes to mount Honda pumps etc onto. You also have plenty of safe area for ag chems etc.
Our 8000 litre cost around £3250, thats cheap bowsering , and the tank is well protected from side impact etc. No guarantees for rollovers though!
At harvest the trailer is put back to grain spec.

im not building my own - todays events have highlighted to me that it's best to have some else design to blame if thing go wrong

however I do quite like the idea of tanks that can fit in grain trailers, price of a good bowser would buy a decent 18t grin trailer !

think I prefer this idea assuming I can get a decent size one inside a grain trailer, could get a couple even for less £ than even a cheap and basic bowser i guess ? - its more flexible as I can take IBC's etc in same trailer and we increasingly have more IBC delivered product, its bunded in a trailer (handy for liquid N) and less wheels on the farm to maintain

If any intrest, my 5000 ltr bowser in my aviator picture is for sale. It's the blue one on the veg craft link above by Indiescot. It has the pro fill in the back and pump and a high output pump for filling and transfer. Pm if intrested.
