I got a victorinox pruning knife for my girlfriend for about £25, went down well as I got it in bright purple (her fave) and they do it in all sorts of colours. Sounds like your daughter is already keen though so maybe dont need to be gimmicky, my preference is for simpler knife only tools then you know what you've got to tackle the job with. Hope she likes whatever you get

Leatherman doesn’t suit everyone but excellent.
opinel, while I think they’re a good blade, the rest of the knife is sh1te and therefore should only be reserved for very experienced users/sadists.

i quite like a blade that can be opened and closed with one hand.

Opinel. AG Edwards sells them locally. Great blades that keep an edge for ages but quite hard brittle steel that will shatter if dropped on concrete. Carbon steel is best but will rust. Stainless steel versions are available. She'd only need a 4 or 5, nothing too big.

An excellent quality and rugged penknife is the CH3504 (Google it).

It's the equal of the big brands, but much cheaper. I think I paid 23€ for mine, including delivery.

Just make sure the blade is non-locking and less that 3.25" if it's likely to be carried off farm, i only buy UK legal carry knives because i don't have to worry about walking off farm with it
