Best Thing The UK Govt. Could Do? According To The UKs "Richest" Man

That man is UK, born and bred, sir jim ratcliffe, he said amongst a few things, the most important thing, was to start, explore gas fracking, he was quoted in saying that the UKs businesses, and people have and are paying far to much money for their energy, as against our major competitor countries, and thus are at a major disadvantage, lowering energy costs and producing it our selves, would be a major driving force, for economic "growth" and the UK is "blessed" with abundant sources of "home grown energy", ( such as gas fracking) naming just one, he was quoted as saying the Govt, should be taking far more notice, of "industry leaders" than what they are at the moment, being more "leaning" to the "green" energy, "badger hugging" lobbists? That to me makes a lot of "common sense" What do others think?,

This government is 100% delusional, and all went down the pan when Boris was elected. The majority of the public were taken in by the bumbling eject, I think he might have been ok PM if he hadn’t been lead by his wife and the Goldsmiths.

All so true. I do wonder how many MP’s of any political party and others in Government who make decisions have experience of “Actually Running A Large Business “of the their own and so understand about making profit a first priority ,rather putting the environment first to try and keep those happy who are earning a wage or salary who don’t care where or how the company/ individual, is coping to stay viable to keep them employed, especially civil servants.

He is indeed a bright man when consider his humble beginnings. And should be listened to. Where does he choose to pay tax?

He is a fool taking short term benefits over long term ones, fracking gas is not a good idea, for a lot of reasons.
Not least the risk to underground drinking water, and the fact they can never predict the outcome of fracking.

roll that over to net zero goals it’s a road to nowhere,
When you look at the scale of the problems we will be facing over the coming century what you don’t do now is add to them or invest in things that will only cost double or triple or much much more later to correct.

This video talks about the problems and the shear scale of them, to even have a hope of keeping the wheels on the bus turning like they do now.
Costs escalate over time the further along we go down our continued use of fossil fuels the more expensive we make correcting the problems they cause. Carbon capture is massively expensive, and we make the need for it ever more likely the longer we avoid dealing with the problems. It’s better to cut our emissions than try to clean them up, which the video covers.

It’s fairly obvious.
Unfortunately I really don’t think the Government see our Island as a place to produce stuff, although we’re still in the game for top end stuff, the wokery of “climate emergency” will stop it.
We seem to be run by politicians and civil servants whose background is PPE from Oxford, so have no natural "feel" for what is happening in the rest of the UK.

He has a point about home-grown energy. You wouldn't leave your own grass and buy silage from a neighbour.
However, he stands to make a lot of money from fracking and I never accept much advice from people who choose to pay tax elsewhere.
Plenty Scottish tax exiles keen to tell us to be independent. Well, come and live here if it is that great

Maybe if there weren't so many tax dodges and dodgers, we would all be better off.
You mean always rely on someone else to pay the bills, the worlds a big place & countries easy to move to, if you tax too hard money goes elsewhere, far too many in this country are now relying on benefits that businesses are paying for, in time the well will go dry then what.

Quite the opposite. If everyone paid their fair share, we would all be better off

does that include me ive started drawing my pension?
Probably both you & I, in this country an ever smaller group is financing everything & as we can all see by the annual deficit this is unsustainable & is really starting to cause problems, governments love to splash the cash but have no idea what ever how to produce it.
