Don’t bother with a little toy have a proper tractor 😂 Ticks every box, small tyres so the arable boys won’t be as keen

Nice tractor but it’s got that AP gearbox! Don’t know if I could trust it at 10k + hours…

I think a Claas Arion 650 would be worth a look as well...
But as with all things secondhand condition is king.
Drove a 640 for a season on silage trailers. Wasn’t bad at all.

I got into farming 5 years back and looked at tractor purchase options with a budget of around £80k. my choice seemed to be one new or newish one or 3 scrappers. I went for the scrappers buying them over the next few years. (130hp with loader 2500hrs @ £27k, 160Hp with 6600 hrs @ £23K and 250HP with 3400hrs @ £29k . All the same brand with auto power shift, front lifts,AC, 50k , front suspension and about 10 to 12 year old at time of purchase and I added Chinese RTK Autosteer to them all. Two came from council auctions the other from Cheffins, the only major fault so far was an engine issue on the 250hp that cost £4K to fix And it’s been good ever since. No regrets so far (apart from when I sit in a mates new Deere, but thats way beyond my budget anyway)

Yeah I think I'll be going the same way as you bought a new tractor 9 years ago now and probably £120k to replace it.
Okay might get £40k for trade in but I think I'd rather keep it and buy another secondhand or scrapper as you put it and keep the spare £40k in my pocket for something else ..

Plus the older tractor won't have adblue or any other tier 5 bulls**t... or an expensive warranty to maintain.

I do a yearly tour of different areas/states of the U.S. in a caravan and it seems a vast majority of the farmers there use old, and I mean OLD, some from the 80’s tractors and get by with them. When I drive around the East of Scotland it’s like a dealer showroom in every field.

I had an 11 plate n141 from new, good points ,pulled well
Bad points shît brakes, shocking range change ( had to stop to change then fight with the gearstick) pîss poor hydraulic flow.👎
Tried one before getting a 6430 the gears in the Valtra were stroke I was not impressed,

No lovely tractor I would like it to go with these two, my cup of tea.it you think the gearbox is bad you should have used the SL dual power box on the TS 115 we had
I did a lot of hrs on Sldp’s they changed range better than the hi-tech Valtra box.👎

I bought a 6430 the same year with the wide doors and 50k etc,one of the only tractors I regret selling.

Biggest problem with the valtra Hitec 3 is they’ve stopped making it ,i find them a nice slick gear to change, the range change always knock the main gear stick into neutral first ,we wanted a second hand 6430 when we got the N111 the one we looked at was ten K more money through dealer, but of a local farm, and not well cared for. Didn’t like the Valtra at first but always impressed how well it worked.bought a N121 on the back of it. but if buying a brand-new tractor now It would be a power quad plus,I hate power shift,s everyone says I would like a vario but then you would have electrical spool valves, silly television screen and all the rest of the shite that goes with it. definitely liked our 6830 power quad Sadly it was traded in for a new 6145R DD bloody hate it, but I’m not its main driver so that’s okay.

I’m not a fergie person but spec for your £££ the 7400 series always look decent value. As does the Claas stuff.

However I would think if you were to fancy something decent from the blue stable a T7000 is as good as anything.
