Best way to fix a drain full of roots?

Have a short drain that connects to a well. that has become slow running. had a jet washer through it both ways but still cant get the drain rods right through. Lots of ash roots stop me from getting the rods corkscrew attachment right through. Is there an easy way to clear roots or is it simpler just to lay a new pipe? Its about a 10m run but does get reasonably deep near the well, over 2 ft.
any advice appreciated.

We enquired about all sorts of hydraulically driven root cutter attachments for the end of the jetter but digging out is the only sure way.
Don’t disturb the bottom of the trench. If it’s tiles just scrape the soil off with a narrow bucket, hand lift, clean and relay, walking on the relayed tiles as you go and putting a bit of soil on them so if it collapses in behind it’s not a mess. Start downstream. A pruning hand saw can useful for trimming bigger roots off. I sometimes lay plastic soil pipe through the worst areas to prevent future ingress.
If my drains were only 2 foot deep I’d be laughing. 5 foot deep through running sand gets interesting.

Start again! If it's sectional pipe, replace it with un perforated waivincoil to keep the roots out. Unless the tree is growing into the well and the pipe, then the tree wants removing as well..

Ash trees wont be around long with ash die back, only way is to dig it up and put new pipe in.Strange how some trees roots go for pipes and others never go near them.

Dyna rod Use a cutter on a flexible drill type thing and it’s very effective.used a few times when customers don’t want area digging up.also pulled a bit of root mass out and attached chain and pulled out with a digger.have posted pics of that on here in past

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.
