Bidens promise to Taiwan

I think you have a very short memory. A few weeks ago it was assumed that the Russian armed forces were all destroying with the very latest equipment and up 2 million hardened troops. They did not last long against determined defenders. China may have likewise huge amounts of copy look alike aircraft , etc. but none has ever been tested in battle. Further the Taiwan straight is 100 miles. No chance of any surprise attack or the use of short range high speed missiles to disable the defense. Also Taiwan is a very mountainous country, ideal to defend and difficult to attack

If Trump was still there he would say to the Chinese if you invade Taiwan I will nuke you feckers & they wouldn't have a clue whether he really meant it, what the feck do you think Biden will do if the Chinese actually invade, send the Taiwanese some money?

SI=ink every operational Chinese ship and down every plane. I don't think you really understand just how much military power the US has, add in the others in the Quad, and the UK and - I have no doubt at all - plenty of others who want to see China wind its neck in, and China wouldn't have hope.

We know you've bought all the Russian propaganda, you now taking China's unquestioned too?

I've bought no one's propaganda, it is you that seemed to belief NATO would come to the rescue of Ukraine, how long to you think US ships would last if the Chinese turned their missiles & subs at them, about as long as Russian ships I would imagine.
What are the Americans going to do send soldiers in planes to China, this is not some game where the good guys always win, bluff is a dangerous game to play without the resources to back it up, look at the trouble the US had in Iraq & Afghanistan against third rate opposition!

My memories just fine, the Russians were made to look like amateurs by being fooled into invading at the wrong time of year in the wrong parts of Ukraine, they will now take the bit they want in the East & just bomb Western supplies in the rest of Ukraine, eventually a deal will be done where the Russians will keep what they want & Ukraine will keep the rest with endless tension between the two parts. Not a good outcome for anyone.
Don't believe me wait & see!

You lie a lot in the other thread too, your problem here is that I have done nothing of the sort. Hence my criticism of it from the start. (y)

I thought I'd give you a chance in this thread, but you've carried on here as elsewhere. Poor attempts at provocation and lies, again. Time waster again...

We obviously see things from very different directions & if I have misattributed a quote re NATO to you then I apologise, I can only say that as where you get your information from I have no reason to question or doubt the information I received about how this in Ukraine started, the person involved is personally involved & has no reason to lie or embellish his version of events.
To believe that the US would start a war with China that would not involve NATO or it's countries is too frightening to contemplate & I simply don't believe the Americans would go through with it even if you do.
Perhaps we are both wasting our time second guessing what will happen & be the final outcome!

Beg to differ, China has a massive military budget and equally if not more advanced weapons systems than the US with highly capable hacking teams. They also have a larger and increasingly more advanced navy. All bought and paid for with the west's money. They weren't kidding when they branded them the yellow peril. Taiwan would be impossible to conquer because its people hate the Chinese (my wife's mother in law is Taiwanese). However the Chinese could easily 'occupy' it for a significant time after a fairly bloody battle. In my opinion the reason the US pulled out of Afghan at alarming speed was so they could be 100% ready for the coming war with China.

isn’t your wife’s mother in law… your mother?🤔

The United States pledge to help Taiwan defend itself is nothing new.
The first Sino-American Mutual Defence Treaty was signed 2nd December 1954, and was effective from 1955 to 1980.
Some of the act was carried over to the Taiwan Relations Act, signed into law by Jimmy Carter on April 19th 1979.
Biden wasn’t promising anything new, or anything that the Chinese don’t already know.

Yeah, right. The Chinese military budget is fudge all compared to the USA and the US computing industry is off the scale.

If you think the Chinese a more capable navy than the USA then I want some of whatever you are smoking. They only have 2 carriers and the bulk of their submarine fleet is diesel electric.

Personally involved in how the invasion of Ukraine started? That would make him fairly senior in the Kremlin then, surely?
