I am looking for 1-2 acres to buy within 20 miles of Ormskirk to set up a smallholding and finding people with land willing to talk about selling it is seeming impossible. Does anyone know of any land nearby I can buy or even long term lease? Also any advice for someone relatively new?

You're trying to buy a house plot sized area of land. Are you offering enough? For 1-2 acres you can forget buying at Agri prices, and should be looking at around £50-100k as a budget - minimum. If the price is right, then someone will sell.
