Bitersaltz vs liquid Magnesium ?

Bittersaltz is sulphate, not nitrate. You've got to compare like with like. I used to use nitrate as I had applied plenty of sulphur other ways.
I know that's why my comparison was for both so3 products, I asked about it being nitrate because that would have made it very very well priced.

Anyone wanting mg nitrate could just use mg so3 and add a few Lt/ha liquid N or add blue.

I was under the impression that adding it with nitrate increases the uptake. Ibc of 9% mag plus nitrate was 68p

the Farmdeals product is 9% magnesium nitrate and its £46p /L on the group buy thats running this week, think i’m going to order a couple of IBC’s ..... if nothing else the sprayer driver will thank me !

i think the offer is nitrate - its 46p/ L this week group buy

Also has some sulphur in it - Magnesium 9%MgO 18%S03 [7.2% S]

Are you sure as normally they also state N content as well? Most of them are mag oxide anyway with added nitrate. If that price is correct that is cracking as 68p was the best I could get.

I always thought it was either or, as it states sulphate I would assume that's what it is if it was nitrate it would say so. I haven't come across a product that's mg +so3+nitrate.

I'm registered for the buying group thingy how do I see it on there.

I saw it under micronutrients, it doesn’t state its content beyond 9%Mag.

i would have though mag chloride would have been a cheep enough way of doing it as it’s quite soluble, not sure why not used on plants.

Are you really sure it's Mg nitrate. It looks like the same product (has the same analysis) as the one on Marketplace which is defiantly Mg Sulphate - Section 3.1 of the MSDS

actually i guess it must be Magnesium Sulphate with the 7.5% So3 content ?

i was always led to believe that trace elements were best applied in the sulphate form ? how how would to nitrate help magnesium uptake or are you just wanting the additional foliar nitrogen ?

I believe the nitrate helps move the other nutrients into the leaf.

In my case I will already be applying an ample sufficiency of sulphur.

Yep it will be mag sulphate then. As Bob says nitrate must as a cofactor for uptake at least that’s the theory. I’m also in the position that we have plenty of sulphur already with the liquid fert we use.

this magnesium group buy is from the same supplier as the manganese was - Badger crop nutrition

I believe they source a lot of their ingredients from battery recycling which is a good story to tell our customers and improve our environmental reputations!
Are they from the travelling community 😉?
