Any one else get suppliers that requlary supply products just take it on themselves to deliver without asking whether you actually need more or want more of their product?
Last week I gave my sand supplier a short , sharp phone call as the third load of un ordered sand arrived in two months and blocked my tractor in. I think he's not got a lot on but funny how his bill still arrives the day after his load arrived.

Today my cake rep has sent me a load of cake after spotting it was a dropping last week and commenting about which I said I wanted to drop the bin very low this time and would be in contact this week but there's no way the load that's just arrived will fit in:mad:. Think someone else is in for short and sharp phone call:mad:

I would love a system where my feed bin had a set of weigh bars under it and the cake company could see what was in it and just keep it topped up. I'm surprised it hasn't happened yet because it would create real transport efficiencies for the feed companies.

Surely a sensor on the lower parts of the bin could alert you or your feed company.

Weigh bars off a feeder wagon would be just the job on a bin, could see each milking how much you used.

I never found the one on my parlour very accurate,it also did the out of parlour feeders as well.
Oh right.
Old Alpro black box with 8 feeders on it. , its within a 150kgs each load.
If i have a 8120kg delivery I just put in 8 ton. Would sooner have a bit "spare "

I would be extremely hesitant to order anything without express consent or commmunications directing me to do it. I know farmers who would be very upset by it and they would never deal with you again as a result. Brings me out in a sweat just thinking about it.
The OP. Wanted and needed the load of cake, but just wanted to run the bin down empty. This is ok if the feed is coming from local. But but when it's coming from 250 miles away. I wouldn't want to risk it As the lorry could be held up in traffic. Have a breakdown or any manner of things. Another factor would be the fact the OP runs robots so needs feed 24/7.
I am sure most of us would be be on the phone quick enough if We had ordered feed. and we had run out because the lorry didn't come when asked.

A relation had a load of someone else’s blown in by accident, thing is they milked really well so they swapped suppliers, bit of a crafty move.?

Another I know had a load blown into his loft by accident,he ended up milking with acrow props holding the loft up.

Does the newer Alpro box that you access through the PC have this feed count down facility on it? Will have to go and have a look. Hardly use Alpro as using uniform agri. It tells me average daily use but no facility for counting down a load. Its never been a problem though as it is easy to look in the windows of the silo to guage when you need more.
