Yes, I know we need to stay alert but I seem to be getting alerts on TFF and can't find a way of switching them off.

Have taken a few ticks out of your first linkIf you have "watched" a forum then you can get loads of alerts.
If you go to https://thefarmingforum.co.uk/index.php?account/preferences you can turn off the internal alerts too.
