Blood sucking ahdb

I think that is a bit unfair and uncalled for. @White rabbit is undoubtedly successful and I can understand his grievance. Even AHDB know they are on a sticky wicket with Hort, why else have they reduced levies by 10% for this year.
Hort is such a diverse sector that it is impossible for all specialist growers to see value for money. Many have to do their own trials and markets can be so small that information gained has a commercial value that growers will not want to share.
I think the OP has some valid points but the important thing if he is to be successful is the way he presents them. Stay rational @White rabbit and don’t let the vitriol eat you up.
I completely agree, but his mannerisms infer we “farmers” are inferior which rubs me the wrong way! He has no idea of how I run my business or what I do.

I can see he has valid points even if they are put across poorly, but he has to see others don’t hold the same opinions as him!

Absolutely true it’s not an impediment to running a business, but it does stop you being effective at self marketing to the public and running effective research projects.

For context, this guy claims to have £9M costs, so presumably a £10M+ annual turnover and yet is getting himself in a twist over £30k to a body that he clearly could learn much from. It does £100+k / annum of directly relevant research for him and he thinks he’s not getting any value. He needs to work with them, not against them.
Just out of interest , could you tell us what research ahdb do that costs £100+k/annum that is of direct relevance to white rabbit?

Yes, I've read the whole thread. It started off with blood sucking ahdb. Since then it's been nothing short of a Spanish Inquisition into white rabbits business.
I'm not an accountant and don't know anything of this man's profit, loss marketing, nor do I care.
He's just asking opinions of others of ahdb and seems like plenty dissatisfied too.
But if he doesn't want to pay 30k a year and prefer to put it to better use, I can only agree he shouldn't have to.

I don't feel I've been rubbed up the wrong way, I don't feel inferior , I'm happy with my lot and all I have to say on the subject.

No, I couldn’t. It was a bit less than the number he cited earlier that went for his sector - I seem to recall it was £130k he wrote but I’m not wasting my time looking for it.

He should know, of course, if he was running his business properly, but it seems he turns over £9M and makes a loss - which implies perhaps he’s not.

Well what a mixed bag ,stroll on highland mule you really give me a good kicking there if it wasn't for an gof and lim x I would thinking of taking an extra anti-depressant,by the way highland mule is that how you spell depressant ,I have not inferred that the word grower is more superior than farmer in fact farmer sounds to have more standing than grower in the eyes of the public,an gof seems to have to completely taken on board the message I am trying to get across ,i personally don't care whether farmers like highland mule want the ahdb or not but for the umpteenth of saying I don't,if he came down to Lincolnshire I would find time to take him round the few growers left and he wouldn't come across one that wanted the ahdb to continue, then we could visit some extremely large potato growers within 5miles of this farm these are very professional growers growing upwards of a 1000 acre paying 900 to a 1000 pounds rent if I said to them have you ever used the ahdb to help with the growing you would hear them laughing 10 mile away then they would begin to question whether I was beginning to lose the plot, must go I have telephone appointment with my tutor

I think an extra tablet or two would do you well sir. And I wish you no ill, but the health and wealth to have a long and happy life. I don’t see you in that place right now though, and it isn’t the fault of the AHDB.

it could be, but he quotes costs of £750k/ month and a £9M turnover.

My calculator is working fine, thanks, but I’m only a little farmer who doesn’t turn over anything near that.

Just out of interest @Highland Mule being that you are from the Scottish Highlands do YOU actually pay an levies collected by AHDB.
I am thinking that AHDB may be of no
Concern to your business.

I have QMS levy on every lamb put through the abattoir, and something called MLC/AMIC levy on prime sold through the mart. There may be something on cattle, but I don’t have any invoices for those handy to check.
