Bomford B577 - flail options

Running an older B577 Bomford hedge cutter - it has the boot style and shackle flails which are getting worn now.

Flails direct have a competition flail option for the older Bomford cutters - is anyone using these?

Had Flails Direct Competition flails on our Bomford B508 a few years back, did a lovely job gone back to boot flails, not as good on hedge but a good all round flail!

Yes , I bought a set last year for my B468.

I'm not sure they will fit the LW1250 head on a B577 very well.

The LW heads have 6mm cleats on the rotor whereas the MW heads have 10mm cleats.

So the collars that Flails Direct supply will be 4mm too short.

i have the flails direct flails on my hedge cutter but alarmgly im finding discrepancies of the flail weights upto 15g. i thought these are ground to uniform weights? can soon get 300g difference over 20 flails quite easily. maybe im being too finickity but i find boot flails dont make a nice square cut of the hedge more of a ragged cut. keeping them sharp is important, weve a pa93 which makes a nice job with fixed flails, but the smaller one ventures out this time of year on the light tractor on floats.

Thanks for that - interesting comment.
Was just looking for a tidier finish, but the boot flails do a fair job and I find them good on the grass banks and ditches around here.
