Boosting mains pressure outside the house

I want to take my 25mm main and divert it for two dwellings. At the moment my one 25mm pipe feeds 3 dwellings. I have no pressure issues but for a new dwelling I need sprinklers and so need more pressure.

I've had a few chats from people but wondering if anyone has more experience of doing this.

I basically can see the only way of doing this is to have a tank in a shed outside which can hold a supply of water (3000 litres) and then a pump to pump water from that in times of need.

Do any of you here have a storage tank for mains and then pump it on again elsewhere due to low pressure?

Evening @SilliamWhale if you end up going with spinklers consider that they should be run from the mains pressure. I say this as when you may need them perhaps the electricity supply may at that time be compromised. I am lucky that incoming pressure is close to 5bar. We have a system for the parts of the farm that don't require a portable supply and that side has a 5000Ltr tank and a double pump system to maintain that sides requirements. It was put in more to tick the box of the water supply company and its you cant do that and this isn't allowed either.

I'd love to run it off my mains pressure but I just don't have the pressure. Welsh water don't give a toss that I don't have the pressure and in Wales all new dwellings must have sprinklers so its rock and hard place. I will be able to have my sprinkler pumps on a different electricity circuit though which takes away the theoretical risk of no electric in a fire.

I've been told that I can have a tank for potable and only will need a uv filter as well as the pumps. Those double pumps seem quite dear from a scoot about on the net - circa £2500-3k. I wanted to bring my own farm water supply into it as well which I may to soften the blow even though its not water thats the expensive thing in this equation

@davidroberts30 The sprinklers I have fitted (but may not be as others) only activate individually and are activated by temperature blowing a bulb that holds the individual sprinkler head shut. So I would say pressure dose have a bit of input. I think my system is plumbed in 25mm hard pipe (Orange) throughout the houses and bungalow.

I'm actually wondering if something like this

Could be what I'm looking for and just t it off from the my mains pipe and maybe just supply the new dwelling with the "extra" pressure needed.

It’s border line illegal to use the same supply for multiple
property now. I suspect building regs will catch up with you in the end, have you got a price for a new connection?

consider a bore hole?

Can you have a water mist system over sprinklers? Far more effective from the videos I've seen, I have to maintain a few and all it is very simple. Just a tank of water and nitrogen bottle, stand alone system in the event of a power cut.

Why ? We own two flats one block has individual meters the other just has one and the bill divided between all owners.
I expect the water boards dont like it, all those standing charges they are losing out on

We have poor supply and pressure ,end of line from village if you turn tap on downstairs , tap will stop or shower will stop upstairs , or if the boy in his house next door turns on a tsp ours will nearly stop , any ideas to boost it , and if sprsy tank running some days we have nothing , considered building a mini pylon with water tank 30 ft high but wife does not like that idea , even if made summer house at its base.

previously T’d of seems to be accepted but in England certainly you can’t run more than one dwelling or unit from a supply because ‘they have a duty to ensure a clean pressured supply’ to each property. So yes, it’s to get a service charge out of all of us!

ive just had a row with them over pressure drop to a new commercial yard. So long as it 1 bar at the meter they don’t care how long the run is. I wanted 1 x 63mm metered supply, they offered me 3x 25mm. I’ve countered with 8 x 32mm‘s, see what they say!

Hi,

Have you thought about fitting one of these to the homes. You can get pumped or not pumped, depending on space available.

I said this earlier. Legally they only have to provide around 0.75 bar, anything else is a bonus.

After the meter, it is your responsibility, but it must comply with local regs and wras..

How much . Plenty room in downstairs toilet if take chainsaw and other tools out and 40 years of power farming out
