Did you keep the house on mains?
The farm supply is separate from the house.we put a stop tap to stop the bore hole water getting back into the main if any thing went wrong. And also if the bore broke down we can turn back to the main . We are going to take into the house at some point and have all the filters and uv lights put in

Our only supply is by bore hole . Got 2 in, one for our house and cattle sheds here and then one up at the farmhouse which does the cattle sheds and farmhouse . Got all the filters and 'nightswill' plus UV lights . Wouldn't look back !!

Price depends on a number of factors. Drilling the hole is not the biggest cost, depending on depth. Then does it need a liner to maintain the hole. Size of pump depending on requirements. Then potentialy big expense, need for filters. Iron & Manganese often a problem. UV filter to get rid of any pathogens. Water softener if hard water
Ours was £16k 5 years ago. hole was 70m deep, pump sits at 30m Filters as above, which automatically back flush every night. Sized at 20 cu m day
Only running costs some leccy & 2 pallets salt ayear for the softener circa £700 / year. Replaced a water bill approaching £8k / year
Installed by Dales water
There is a company at Halwhistle, havn`t had any dealings with them but worth a call

Lakes and Dales water supplies, Colin Armistead, did ours and I would think he would do just about everyone’s in the area.
Would guess ours will have been in 12ish years, never had any issues with it. One neighbour, it turns the pipes black and can block them up while another neighbour it’s turns the pipes orange!
Definitely one of the better things we’ve done!

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.

This webinar will be...
