what make you think everyone will want to trade. we heading into a massive worldwide economic depression, which usually means that trading block do less trade deal with 3rd party countries as they want to protect their own industry, and there us without a meaningful trade deal with anyone
Good we wont need to buy Chinese sh!t now, if this turns nasty it might make people think of China as they did with Japanese and German stuff for years, a chance to start again and produce stuff here

Today, maybe boris isn’t seeming so lucky...
However, I predict a mild affair, followed by him becoming immune. Then, as Doctor’s are becoming ill in increasing numbers, as the nightmare takes hold; the news reals will be full of clips of boris manning ventilators day in, day out.
He’ll be the stuff of legends

Just as a point of interest, Theresa May has "earnt" £500,000 from speaking engagements since she left office ...

Now I personally don't like Johnson but I do have to say that he is showing some leadership
However the acid test will come when the army and armed police are out on the streets imposing curfews. Then we will see if he can cut it
And if the army or police decline to shoot their fellow citizens? There is always this great assumption that they'll follow orders and pop away but they are human to, as are those who will required to give such orders.

As you well know, there is always rubber and plastic bullets, tear gas etc, as half way house measures. Quite trendy on the north of your isle when I were a lad.

Not an easy decision, but it will be made. He'll be fine, as we write there people around him getting him in to the right frame of mind to give the order and to ensure it is enforced. He is the PM and the buck stops with him, but he has a lot of support. He'll get us through this well enough, not sure he'll be so keen on a second term in office now though.

As a soldier I've been 'on the streets' in NI and a couple of other places; people get used to it and - politics aside - most see the need for it when it happens, some are delighted to see you! There will always be a couple of ars*holes who kick off here and there, now and then - but they are easily dealt with and don't really matter. The simple truth is that most people have common sense and understand that you wouldn't be there is it wasn't serious.
So being an ars*hole is a crime fit to attract the death penalty eh? Better keep your head down in that case.

no such thing as “luck”. Boris has put himself in positions that allowed him to get the results he wanted

luck is simply preparation meeting opportunity

let’s hope he gets lucky re c19. i doubt anyone would want to be in his shoes right now !

A fellow metal detectorist friend of mine used to oft times quote some golfer and say 'the more I practice, the luckier I get' and sure enough his finds upheld what he said.

As for Boris, I tended to think of him as an over grown schoolboy and something of a buffoon but as things started to unfold into the present emergency the look on his face seemed often to say 'why the feck did I apply for this efin job?'.

My wife, who comes from a long long line of socialist voters, actually voted conservative in answer to the call from Boris to get Brexit done and break the parliamentary deadlock brought on posturing politicians. He didn't get my vote, I must add, but he now certainly has my support; for what it may be worth.

Regardless of any political, religious, or socio economical leaning that we all may have, lets all get behind Boris and perhaps replace his mantra ........... 'Lets get Brexit done' with 'Lets flatten the curve'!

Let's flatten the curve! ASAP!

I wonder how we would have fared under Corbyn ? Or that daft Liberal woman who's name escapes me ?

Anyhoo.....quick question, if the corona virus doesn't like heat, why is it rampant in Spain / Italy / Iran ?

He has been very lucky so far, everything just seems to fall in place for him to get where he wants to be.
Next stop on the plan being compared to Churchill. Hopefully his luck isn’t about to run out on him now.

The look on his face that first day when he spoke of loosing many of our older people before their time said a lot though:(
I think Johnson and the tories come 2024 will get booted out sadly keir starmer will bluff his way to victory,

I could, of course. be mistaken but in the early days of the epidemic onset I understood that all us old wrinklies were being thrown to the wolves (told to hide away) and the rest were to form herd immunity and there would later 'perhaps' be a treatment against Coronavirus for us.
