Apologies - I hadn’t handn’t realised I was responding to a fellow remainer who likely abhors the way Johnsons 80 seat majority achieved with less than 43.5 % of the votes managed to railroad parliament into accepting the 52/48 % “advisory” 2016 referendum by illegal means for the sake of tax advantages for those who would never have to change their lifestyle even in the event of wealth taxes over £10m
How soon people forget the "Super majority" needed to do what they did.

Poland is expected to exceed the UK GDP... end of msg.. that includes MULK obvs!!!!!!

I wonder why Poland is on such a course to super-stardom.

1. Government not all educated at Eton mostly intent on helping their mates who also went to Eton.

2. Government not comprised of people whose sole qualification was PPE at Oxford.

3. Populace who know what hard graft is and whom are prepared to do it.

4. Portion of the populace who move to UK, work like dogs and then send money back- to Poland.

Its time for farmers to now accept their future and prepare, Just watched another video on youtube about the impact the goverments sub removal is having on small farms, given the fact bps goes straight to the net profit and requires no turnover to get im just curious as to how people will replace it?

say your sub was 30k that would need 300k of turnover working on a 10% margin which is about right for ag long term, thats a lot of cattle, i.e you might need 300 sucklers to get that turnover

It’s a bit late now. You should have planned for this 10 years ago. Your only saving grace might be a labour government who does a uturn.
We’ve streamlined by not replacing staff as they’ve naturally left. We’ve combatted this by buying more used equipment so we aren’t swapping machinery all the time. We’ll never buy anything brand new ever again and we’ve left the green and yellow brand and bought used red’s. Zero regrets and much less finance. We’ve stripped the diversifications out of the farm and into their own business’s. If the farm breaks even and covers all its costs we’ll carry on. If it doesn’t we’ll get out I suspect but we will give it 4 years to see.

My own opinion is that anyone who attended Eton should be automatically excluded from holding ANY position in government.

I think the staff issue makes it all worse too. Everywhere seems to be struggling on staff.

Any alternative enterprise also needs staff, often those with a different skill set than farming.

Certainly it’s not easy to set up a new business when your core business is already finding it hard going. No other industry would consider that - most would only do that in good times when there is profit to spare….and especially not when it’s likely the 101 local neighbours may well be interested in doing similar and be direct competition.

Not to mention that 5 years time will be even harder than now. Those that think they can survive now….the government haven’t finished banning things yet! To me that’s the thing that sucks the fun out of the job - what is cost effective today becomes illegal tomorrow.

Imagine if all UK plumbers were told that they were banned from using copper pipe, or compression fittings….but the Polish plumbers here could carry on as normal.

There was a significant proportion of claimants that were certain it would be replaced with something else of similar value.
Isn't that what Boris Johnson promised post Brexit ? What a liar.
Also wasn't it Gove who promised any food imported, post Brexit, would be the same standard as UK produce as regards quality, traceability. What a liar.

Lack of staff is solely down to low pay and poor working conditions.

Dave Cameron and George Osbourne promised to abide by the results of the referendum whatever the result, as @Hilly said above, they all lie………….or at the very least, far too many of them do,

I detest Johnson - absolutely hate the man, us farmers in the uplands are going to be sent back to the dark ages along with a lot of local businesses that rely on us, all at the hands of Johnson and his outright shameful lies & promises for his own political gain that failed anyway….. A truly terrible terrible man.

Quite agree but what I can’t understand is that there are actually people out there who don’t see through him and think he’s great.

They definitely did say that the money from bps would be the same if not more if we left
The pot they say is still the same now but it appears to be only 20% of what bps pays and the uplands are getting significantly less than the better land for whatever reason
