I've been looking at how to break down large diamiter timber to put it through my processor looking at 10 to 12ft long uwards of 3ft diamiter straight grain wood.
i'm wondering if anyone has tryed welding a blade to the bottom of a excavator bucket put the end of the timber against the blade or sub frame and pull the blade through the log

You can get plankers which attach to your chainsaw, take some setting up by some accounts but do a decent job. Going to be having a play with one soonish, just need to get round to it

Dad made a trunk splitter using a skip lorry ram. Have to cut down to about 6 or 7ft lengths but would be a struggle lifting bigger bits in imo and still got to handle it in to processor after.

Main thing is its saves hours of ringing up and the wood drys out alot easier when split.
