If it's not going well that cannot be due to Brexit! It would have to be those nasty foreigners on the other side of the channel, Covid, Ukraine, Russia, the man in the moon, or anything other than Brexit, Brexit promised the sunny uplands leading to a Global Britain

The jobs pay the taxes (if any) not the people doing those jobs. And the wages spent pays more tax, not the people spending it.
