Yes, I thought it comical yesterday that immigration rules are to be relaxed to keep the nhs going:D

Yes, to care for the old folk that according to the polls predominately voted for Brexit - yet have East Europeans wipe their bums. I do love life it is so full of paradox. And Brexit is now delivering such immense paradox. A stand up comedians delight.

Apparently the wartime generation (over 80's) mostly voted remain. Presumably they are more aware of the consequences of a divided Europe.:scratchhead:

It's the principle. Future governments may have more balls than this one. Nothing is going to change overnight and anyone who thought it would is going to be disappointed. We are leaving the EU.

And there I was thinking that the Europeans would have crapped themselves to death within a few months of declaration of article 50. Weren’t they supposed to be “sensible”, and come to the table and sign exactly where Davis told them to!
Maybe I was dreaming!

Well it’s fair enough if the choice is accept the deal or leave without a deal.
I am all in favour of a further vote on rejoining the EU in time though. 40 years should do

Those opposed to leaving have only recently cottoned on to the likelihood of this and are now doing everything they can to make sure it doesn't.
If there is a choice to offer, it has to be;
1, Leave with no deal
2, Accept the deal
3, Apply to rejoin the EU.

The trouble is, the result would be absolute and would almost certainly not what the overall majority had voted for.
I wouldn't like to predict the result either, unless we were offered a good deal.
May be that's why we should do it..............

a 2/3rd's majority if they want to remain is the threshold i think should be set

This peoples rubbish amuses me, like Hitler peoples car or the peoples gun, it's the usual shithouse language, a 2/3rds majority will be then defined truly as the peoples verdict.

Letting 'guest' workers in on limited time contracts shouldn't interfere with control of migration.
A lot of countries do this. What's the problem?

I can imagine Sir Humphrey now:

"But out will mean out, surely Humphrey!"

"Oh no Prime Minister, no, no, no..."

"No?"

"No."

"Why ever not?"

"Well, Prime Minister, permit me to explain. The referendum was not and never could be an "in-out" referendum"

"Aha, yes it was, I saw the question on the ballot paper!"

"Prime Minister, that was the question you read, but that was not the question asked. We couldn't possibly allow the voters to make such a decision in a functioning democracy."

"Couldn't we!"

"Oh no Prime Minister. I really is quite simple. The question asked if we wanted to leave the European Union. If the voters vote to remain that's an end to it, but if the vote to leave that just the beginning."

"The beginning? I'm not sure I follow"

"It would be the beginning of the exit negotiations Prime Minister. It took Greenland three years to leave and they only had some polar bears and fish to sort out. It would be far more complicated to unpick our membership. By the time we'd drawn up the treaties needed to leave the treaties we are in (they would have be ratified by Parliament) the EU will have changed. We didn't vote to leave the changed EU we voted to leave the unchanged EU. You would have no mandate to leave the changed EU Prime Minister...and we'll have to start all over again."

"But that's terrible Humphrey, what about the will of the people?"

"Your right Prime Minister, we'd probably need another referendum..."

That should have been the criteria first time round, instead of splitting the country down the middle.

Yep, no probs. Oh and not only sovereignty you can regain Norfolk for true six toed folk and stop these lithe sexy looking Latvians coming to Attleborough to work in the veg fields turning the heads of the local true Norfolk bred yokels!! Oh, what Is that I saw the home secretary now saying we must change Mrs Mays rules to allow more immingrants in - I can see today Mr Javid will be sent to the tower - treason, off with his head.

Best wishes. I am in jocular form this morning. Nice and sunny and saw some excellent sugar beet yesterday where the Broadacre herbicide has cleaned up nicely a huge weed burden. Best wishes,

were you paddling up the dykes with your webbed feet

It would have been a different outcome but the result would have been the same.
It has to be a majority decision as any other threshold is arbitary and who has the right to decide which side of the argument it should favour.
The referendum highlighted the split, it didn't create it.

Do you not listen.....
The leave vote was to end uncontrolled immigration.
This is a clear policy of controlled migration.
When challenged, it was made clear that for any required skills, we would be open to the global labour force not just the EU.
An amusing paradox is the SNP , complaining that Westminster is having a power grab of rules it is happy for the EU to have, all walk out for not having a say so there isn't the single member required to be present to put forward the motion for them to have their say!!
