Very exciting morning here, Eastrop Mack Red passed his TB test and is now sold to Genus!
Been on tender hooks for the last month waiting for all the blood tests and sending cull cows to the abattoir.

I know what you mean, didnt say anything to anyone until Epic was on the lorry. Did a deal to sell 1 5/6 years ago and had a reactor in a herd test before he could leave that knackered the job.

What’s the highest combined fat and protein kgs bull available at the moment? My Quentins are getting on so need replacing

plenty in the hol catalogues, over 50/60, as we are xbred, but with an autumn block, seriously looking at nacash et from uk sires direct, pli 636, aci 499, sci 317 plus 63 kg f+p, putting name on, might get loads of feedback !

Why wouldn't you have a separate shed with a separate holding number to move the bull to?
Leaving a bull that's "sold" with main herd with whole herd tb test due was ,obviously ,high risk now.

Why wouldn't you have a separate shed with a separate holding number to move the bull to?
Leaving a bull that's "sold" with main herd with whole herd tb test due was ,obviously ,high risk now.

Hindsight is a marvelous thing. Was the first bull i'd ever sold so wasn't exactly used to the situation. Also hadn't lost anything to TB for 8 years at that point, thinking a rogue result as only 1 cow lost then 2 clean tests. Taught me not to count my chickens as the saying goes.

A herd breakdown is a herd breakdown, they stipulate isolating for 2 weeks pre vet checks and bloods , however if Tb appears I’d imagine it need to be a very special bull to proceed.

What I meant was testing the bull, moving it to another holding, even a shed can have a different holding number. Then it's not affected if the herd subsequently fails.

Plenty do it for market movements. Have a holding number for each market they attend!

I don’t know maybe, from a buyers point of view if they are paying good money for a bull for the stud it doesn’t change the risk although they are pre Tb checked anyway. Wish I had that problem only goats here
