British friesian bulls

Question, how much is a 2-3month old bull calf worth? I've had someone phone me and make an offer on one but I'm not sure what's sensible

I can't sell him until I get his genomics back anyway but still would be interested to see if it's worth selling him now, or holding onto him for another 12-18 months so he's ready for breeding

Thanks

@Jdunn55 said 2-3 months not days
did get a fr steer calf, to £270, at 3months old, 2 more to go yet, touch of ring worm, grown through that, so they will be gone, 4 months. We really haven't had fr bull calves, didn't put many to b&w, think there's two young ones.
But the reared calves, have been coming back at some serious money, not complaining though, although Frome won't be having any more, they hit the average back. Same age/sexes, av £100 ish more at Exeter, to big a difference.

This would be for breeding, combined parent average would be close to 300 pli but still waiting on genomics to come back

Was thinking closer to £1000? @cattow
hope you get more than that, but the bull trade can be a funny one. Very surprising the price of some bulls, and good pedigrees, we have picked up, on a bad 'day' at mkt, to embarrassed to quote figures, but, will always have a go !

I seem to remember @Friesianfan giving up selling bulls because it was too much hassle, especially in a tB area. Get him away as a calf for a sensible figure, and concentrate on producing milk.

I always think that's a lot of money for a dairy bull, if being purchased by farmers, could easily turn nasty, or daughters will soon be along. Maby just my thinking. Maby they are sold to studs.

😯😯😯 I must be doing it all wrong 😩

anyone have a link to his EBI figures, usually a 70BF 30HF will have much better figures than a 100% BF. Im wondering why a regular dairy farm would purchase a bull for that price unless his figures are exceptional.

we never keep dairy bulls, more than a year, they start getting to bolshy.
but, we bought a very well bred hol bull, with impeccable manners, so we kept him, ended up with 84 hfrs from him, and none of them milked, even as second calvers they just didn't give the milk. That bull obviously didn't 'gel' with our cows, a very expensive 'mistake', so use for 1 year, and out.
Many years ago, someone's fr rig, got in with some of our hfrs, real runt of a thing, stopped a few, ended up with 3 hfr calves, and they milked extremely well, fantastic animals. So just goes to show, you can never be quite certain, what you end up with. Old AI chap was always saying, the best bull in the world, was shot, as a bobby calve, at a week old. And you cannot really answer that.

That's a huge variation £60-£270.

Our average would be closer to £270 for Fri bull calves. Top the market on occasions
