Broad spectrum lamb bolus including copper

As above, does anyone have any recommendations. Used Mayo 5 in 1 s for the first time on the ewes this spring and got on well, but don't think their lamb bolus contains copper.

Unfortunately nobody makes one (although not sure if Cosecure used to?). You need to give copper as a separate capsule of either 2g or 4g of copper oxide rods, costing around 20p iirc.

Easy enough to administer by loading it into the gun before the bolus, then give both at the same time, but another fiddly loading job with slobber covered fingers.:(

I did use the CoSecure lamb boluses a couple of times, but I stopped when I found ridiculous numbers in the paddocks, regurgitated at various stages over the following 3 months.

Anyone tried these from Carrs Billington ?

what weight are your lambs? It will be up to 120 says so up to 4 months which is open to interpretation if they actually only last half of that. This is the issue we had. Whether it was worth it for short times. Agrimin 24.7 with added copper top ups - up to 4 months cover for lambs over 25kg. The issue there is of course any late lambs or the smaller breeds may be around 22kg. Depending on the breeds and weight.

They are hombred replacement ewe lambs ,mostly around 35 to 45 kg and and a few longer keep lambs around 25 kg Tempted to give the ewe lambs the 5 in 1 Mayo bolus but would like to get them in sync with the adult ewes which are due to be Bolused in October and April

Drench now, then bolus in a month’s time so that they are more or less in synch?

Will get a price tomorrow and let you know.
Do Mayo supply the copper caps ? can't see them on the website, and do you have a price for the Mayo lamb Boluses and the caps.
Do you use the same applicator as for the ewe Boluses

Yes, Mayo do 2g & 4g copper capsules. They fit in the lamb bolus gun, which is smaller than the one for the ewe bolus.

Iirc, the ewe bolus is actually just two lamb boluses, +4g of copper oxide rods in the copper version, within a gelatin capsule. The larger size of the gelatin capsule means a bigger gun is needed.

I’ll look out my last invoice tomorrow, but off the top of my head the lamb bolus was about 50p and the copper capsule around 20p.

Carrs billington don't do there lamb bolus with copper anymore but supply the Animax version £1.13 plus delivery!!!!!
PH at Mayo quoted 55p for 250 and 11.5 p for the copper caps
Do you use 2 or 4 gram copper and are they as easy as the ewe Boluses to administer?

That must be the Animax ewe bolus at that price surely? :scratchhead:

I've always used the 2g copper capsules for lambs, but not sure whether 4g ones would be a better in moly lock up situations? Could depend on if the lamb was 15kg or 35 I suppose? I seem to remember that, when I used Animax 'lamb finisher' boluses one time (half price as out of date (y)), they had 2g copper capsules with them.

The bolus itself is as easy as the ewe bolus to give, but fiddly loading a copper capsule in the gun each time ahead of the bolus IME, especially if you have slobber covered fingers. I carry them all in an Agrimin pouch (free with their gun kit) which keeps them close at hand.
