Annex 2 of the National Planning Policy Framework defined brownfield as as:

Land which is or was occupied by a permanent structure, including the curtilage of the developed land (although it should not be assumed that the whole of the curtilage should be developed) and any associated fixed surface infrastructure. This excludes:

• land that is or has been occupied by agricultural or forestry buildings;
• land that has been developed for minerals extraction or waste disposal by landfill
purposes where provision for restoration has been made through development
control procedures;
• land in built-up areas such as private residential gardens, parks, recreation
grounds and allotments; and
• land that was previously-developed, but where the remains of the permanent
structure have blended into the landscape in the process of time.

Can certain this is the most up-to-date definition, but was correct in 2015.

If you are referring to planning potential it's surprising what you can get away with if you get good advice, put it into practice and give it a few months to grown in.

Old entrance gates in the fence line of a listed buildings are particularly handy :)

There are a couple of farm buildings near me (one stone and one 'Atcost') that have permission to be converted from agricultural buildings to dwellings as:
'permitted development under

Class MB (a) and (b) of the Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development)

(Amendment and Consequential Provisions) Order 2014.'

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.

This webinar will be...
