Try these practical ways that help to build your self-esteem:

  • Spend more time thinking about your own needs and wishes
  • Stretch your horizons - do something new or different
  • Give yourself 'treats' during difficult and stressful times
  • Do somthing personally challenging
  • Reward yourself each time you do something well
  • Support yourself with positive self-talk and ban the use of self-put-downs
  • Spend more time with people who give you positive feedback, as well as constructive and helpful criticism
  • Stop belittling your achievements and holding back on sharing them with others
  • Do tasks which play to your strengths; ask for help and delegate when needed
  • Take measures to put your finances in order
  • Treat your body with kindness and respect
  • Devote more energy to your appearance
