There were quite a few 'fitted kitchen' threads on here this morning and I'm quite interested in a new kitchen but now all the threads have been deleted.

Just wondered why?

It isn't as if they could have been spammers as I noticed that Clive, in the 'old content restored' thread had said (albeit whilst knocking BFF) that:

we don't do it like that here we stop spammers joining in the first place, if we didn't our member number would be 10's of thousands by now but I would rather keep things honest and factual!

So, if the security in here is much better than other forums (we all know to whom I'm referring really ;) ) why are you deleting genuine businesses offering the agricultural community such fantastic deals?

Thank you

Is the new forum discount group up and running yet? I thought we could all get a discount?

Excellent.
Thanks for the pm with the details. With all the eastern european sounding usernames I'm looking forward to a high standard of quality in their work.

Having said that, I guess you think they are spammers? But what I can't figure, after all the mud slinging about forum security, is how they would have got in here in the first place?

I wonder if my details are secure to be honest?

These kitchen threads are 'spam' but not in the usual context.

Spam usually originates from computers sending out posts and emails etc, nearly always from as foreign country.
These kitchen posts are from real people in the UK - that is why they get past our system that stops computers - they are actually people, filling in the registration form etc.

These posts are in fact spam though.
We have looked into the company in question and decided it would be best if the posts were removed - in the best interests of our members.

We'll soon have the problem sorted!

Yes yes yes.... I know all that..... but what about my details? If such an obvious spam attack can get through, am I safe?

*mumbles to self as I shuffle off* 'after all those assurances about the new BFF -safe, secure and wtf am I going to tell the missus about the new kitchen?'

I suppose he may have my details now as I haven't had any assurances that he hasn't yet.

The spammers aren't interested in personal details, this ISN'T a hack!

All the spammers want to do is get the volume of threads out there so that Google recognises it, so when someone searches 'Kitchens' then that website will be top of the pile as Google thinks that the website is the most popular.

The spammers are no more than normal members who can only see your profile page as anyone else, I've just had a look and i can't find your personal details (nor anyone else's for that matter!)

You can?

Do you do kitchens?

Now, to you all, clive basically said that spammers are stopped at the door - so what happened? And if that can happen, a hack could happen.

I'm just pointing it out and if you're honest, it could happen. It happened to the best, it could happen here.

Nicely altered.

But you see, that is what could happen. One little slip and the security could be compromised.

For information - we have a bespoke anti spam filter here that has now stopped 10s of thousands of spammers from registering since the forum started. We do this to make the forum available immediately to as many genuine members as possible

The kitchen spammer is uk base and is not a bot spammer, we could stop him BFF style simply by banning all free email addresses but I don't think this the best idea do you ?

The thread referred to above shows we are aware we have a problem with this one spammer and are talking steps like the phone verification to stop him - these things take a little time though, we all have farms to run as well you know !

The is no security risk whatsoever - someone posting an advert on the forum gives them no access to anyone's details at all, I have no idea why you would think so other than maybe you have an agenda to wind members here up, I see you re not a regular poster here so question why a couple of spam posts have upset you quite so much

We will do a post soon about what steps we are taking to ensure the security of the forum.

If you want to find a kitchen supplier I suggest google, this is a farming forum not a home improvement discussion group
