buying online

if I buy a something online I thought my contract was with whomever I payed and was invoice by?
I've recently bought something that works but 1 of the items in the kit doesn't work so the package isn't 100%
I've contacted the seller via email as they don't have a contact number :banghead: they have replied to say their supplier will contact me..(guess what.....still waiting...)

how did you pay? if the credit card or PayPal you have loads of protection via them - contact them and request a "chargeback"

However, it sounds like the supplier is trying to sort this out and doesn't sound like their their fault, more just bad luck so give them a chance to put it right with their supplier first

You can't do a chargeback if you paid with paypal

paypal call it a “buyer dispute”. But as soon as you open a case they will take the cash back from the supplier who will be guilty until they prove their innocence

also it’s wise to connect your paypal account to a credit card for funding rather than a bank account so you can do charge back as well as a last resort. My papypal is fed by my Amex cash back credit card that also gets me 1% cash back. Means I can pay with Amex on sites that don’t accept Amex but do accept PayPal - clear Amex balance monthly so get 30 days interest free credit and the 1% cash back plus the added safety of paying by credit card

Clive is right, you can enter into a dispute which PayPal will decide upon. Did my first one ever this year and was successful, but you need to provide PayPal with every detail and make sure it's right first time.

My credit card company wouldn't get involved until I had exhausted PayPal options first.

Online, I now prefer eBay over Amazon everytime for resolving disputes. I find Amazon very poor, yet eBay, albeit a little slow, have sorted 2 or 3 problems this year.

Biggest problem is 6 months down the line at which time, you are stuffed...

Never had a problem with Amazon - usually get a credit or replacement within days. Curry's on the other hand...
