Calcium flutter valve alternative

Went to give a cow a bottle last year and bloody valve wouldn't work at all. Could get no flow going. The cow needed calcium so I stuck a syringe needle in it. Still using it today. I'd say it emptys in half the time letting air in through the needle rather than the flutter valve.

I will try this first although a 100ml syringe full sounds appealing

Anywhere around the rubber that's slips onto the bottle once it doesn't interfere with putting the bottle on. Don't use a real fine one or a used one that's half blocked.

I still do it the old fashioned way.

Cow chained behind a gate.

Bottle of 400 no.5 calciject

Proper flutter valve (clean!), not the cheap free one that they gave with the boxes the time they changed over from glass to plastic bottles.

Big bore needle specially for the job.

A hanging point above the cow for the bottle.

See it's running. Walk away and clean some beds and come back in 5 or 10 minutes and it's done.

Release cow and wash out valve, tube and needle. Hang up to drain out. (y)
