also the poo is like that because she's eating the pellets and molasses . If you think your bad I am worse just now with this bottle fed baby,[ calf] , haven't done a bottle one for 10 years , I'm sure it should be getting more than I'm giving it as its so hungry but I've been told no !
To be fair i dont think its tried a pellet yet (just had access to them for 1 day) but it does nibble on grass, hay and the black mineral tub.

Lost all its hair, then grew it back again and went onto have 4 or 5 calves. Went very greasy first and came out in lumps, then very dry and dandruffy then gradually grew back.

The calf, from what you say, and what we see is otherwise thriving. Reading the link, I'd be tempted to say it's either a reaction to the antibiotics or just the stress of a premature birth and being a bit off-colour early on. Either way, she's eating, drinking and doing well (y)
Thank you. I cant read the link as just keep getting 'cant open file'. Think iv deleted something as no downloads working on phone! From what u say its either stress or cause she was premature. Doesn't sound too bad but it is unsightly.

It just occurred to me - I had a dog that lost its hair, and was putting on weight at an alarming rate - vet diagnosed a thryroid problem. A blood test would rule this out.
@bovine - have you seen it in young calves before?

The calf had both a bit of a temperature and meds so either one of these issues might be causing the problem. Old Boar.
..interesting.

over in Ireland they are keen on giving them a good bit and min tonic if they look like they are needing it, a wee drop a day for a young calf, I don't know who makes a good one over here but the one they say is good for young calves is tonivet . Im going to find out a good one for my [ now 2] abandoned calfs , I go on the Irish farmers page and they told me a tonic is better than a vit injection .I was thinking of your calf as well.

Thyroid problems don't make animals itchy.

Ringworm or parasites would be top of my list.
