Hi, the starter on my Can Am 450 Outlander has been playing up and sounds like the starter clutch is slipping, you can go to it and sometimes it takes a dozen or more goes to get it to engage other times it works straight off. Can anything be done to the starter or is a new one the answer because sooner or later it will let me down.

I’ve never done one on these but number 40 is the only thing that I can see on diagram that can slip, I can find out tomorrow if ther common and if they can be cleaned up or replaced

I’ve had this before on a used bike, Can am are known for it. Speak to Paul chauter now taken over by Carr’s I think. They are very helpful and know all there is to know about Can ams.

You can get a spring upgrade which can help. The other thing is check the battery is the correct one and a good one. They don’t like weak batteries

Hi, Thanks for all the help, I have spoken to the dealer I bought the bike from and he reckons it's most likely the battery so I give it a boost and it worked perfectly.
