Can Permanent Pasture go into fallow?

Had a field of PP last year.
Did all paperwork and also got converted to arable with RLE1.
SprAyer off and cultivated but didn’t get it drilled and not tempted to unless I have to for BPS.
Something in the back of my mind thinks that can’t go from PP to fallow but can’t find a definitive no in BPS rules.

Fallow land for BPS purposes, is land taken out of an arable rotation. Therefore if the land was not declared with an arable land use code last year, you will have problems declaring it as fallow in 2020.

Shame you hadn't sprinkled some cheapo flower/mustard seed on it by 15th May or you'd have been fine.

Why does it need to go to fallow? Can it not go to another arable crop if you are trying to get it out of being Permanent Pasture - bit of spring barley was drilled a few days ago surely!? What other purpose do you need it coded fallow - if for EFA then I think you are in difficulty. As ever with these queries, one needs to know the context and background. Cheers.

Have finally had call back from RPA and they have said fine! Will wait and see what happen with payment.
Many reasons why I’d prefer to leave it fallow.
Had got a seed contact with rather expensive seed which has been rolled over to this Autumn.
Also had 90% spring drilling this year so plenty to do and once it started drying up the later drilling on worse land is suffering.
There are 2 drains that I’d like to work on this summer when they stop running.
We dug a new ditch along one headland and want to sort that plus clear up assorted brash that was lopped out of overhanging wood & hedges.
One of the reasons for asking was so that if needed we could attempt to plant spring beans (have a few winters in shed still).
Going to get muck up there next week and spread and work before harvest rush!

It’s in peas and barley this year, maybe potatoes next year, best soil on the on the farm.
