So why shouldn't the following be the same
National sheep association for only those that keep sheep
Country land association that own land
Tenant farmers association for tenants only

They all have affiliate membership as well.

What is the difference between these and the NFU?

sheep association ahould only be sheep farmers / owners

CLA should only be land owners

TFA should only be tenants

i don’t recall saying or suggesting otherwise ? !

NFU should be just farmers

simples !!

why are things not as above ......... MONEY !

strength in one would be better
first thing people in power do is try to split up the power of the opposition, if you split them down into little groups and get them fighting against each other you win.

We have to stay united and work on all fronts together

Things like getting the ahdb to with draw 250k to red tractor is absolutely amazing as is withdrawing nfu membership it is slowly working and rt gravy train might just hit a few bumps that will hopefully derail it

have you read my posts ?

ny opinion has not changed one bit yesterday, all that is clear is WE are making a difference here

i am clearly saying resigning nfu membership having and effect do keep doing do

i have spoken to the AHDB today again, keep pushing for the 250k of support to be withdrawn and a “produced to UK legal standard” tick box on grain passports to be accepted

talking to a lawyer re legal challenge to AIC later this week

Yep i have read your posts and its clear that the NFU have hood winked you into believing their rubbish that they have no control/ say over the RT and how it is run....Which is complete BS and i am very surprised and saddened that you believe what they told you in that phone call.

they have given away board control (stupid !)

but they could shut it down tomorrow if minded simply by telling membership to resign on mass or simply stop putting stickers on passports

they lack balls for that though and it upsets the gravy train too much !

NFU are not going to be the hero here - AHDB seem most minded to do something about this IMO and could easy withdraw there financial support (i suspect they will do !)

NFU have a seat on the RT board ( held by Stuart Roberts i believe )

So of course the NFU has a say in how the RT company/ logo/ rules are run..

How the hell you believe otherwise Clive i just do NOT understand! you seem to have fallen for the NFU pack of lies that they have no control over the RT company..

It was only via TFF that it became clear that the NFU co-owned the RT company and that only came about when @Guy Smith claimed on a thread the NFU did NOT co-own the RT company and then someone went digging and found out that the NFU actually DID co-own the RT company which then resulted in Guy Smith backing down very fast.

As for the AHDB, they are a complete and utter WASTE of SPACE!

Unfortunately, whereas NFU could have taken control of RT from the beginning, they've given the power away.

Look at the make up of the sector boards. Processors and retailers can out vote the farmers and NFU.

It doesn't mean to say than NFU should have given their incessant support for RT over past 20 years though. So NFU have encouraged it, and they could ultimately destroy it by advising farmers to leave. So I think they do ultimately have some control.

You make a good point but non farmers appear to be able to influence policy through nfu membership, which can't be right surely?

Can they though?

From what understand the only have access to information and expertise from the NFU.
They have no rights influence the farmer memberships side at all.
AFAIK.
I hope you're right. If supermarkets are nfu members, which has been suggested, they will be there for one reason: to influence the nfu in its lobbying on food and ag policy. Special membership might not be that much to Tesco, but it could be a lot to the NFU and they, I imagine from what I've read on here, can be bought quite cheaply.

i have said they do have ability to control RT ? I'm not sure which oist yiucare clearly miss reading ?

They don’t have board control as they gave it away, i knew that weeks ago, that information is in the public domain, nothing to do with a phone call yesterday which didn’t change view on any of this one bit

Some seem to think all "membership " is the same.
From what I have read and understood its not.

But hey can't beat a bit of SM gossiping.
only if you dislike democracy I guess !

It was said in jest.

One farmer member one vote, is that clearer to read for you?
