Think its because a lot of folk wouldn't understand lengths. They don't swim, just eat pizza and sit on the sofa!

The head of the army has called him inspirational and a role model for all - young or old.

His old regiment has granted him the title of Honoury Colonel. He now has the right to be addressed as Colonel Tom.

A fitting tribute to a great man.

@yellowbelly Was watching BBc Breakfast, They said they would put the sound on when the spitfire and Hurricane lifted off. Could hear them from Winceby as I had opened the kitchen window and muted the telly!! The Spitfire dipped his wings in a final goodbye! He ought have done a victory role! I guess they will be up again next week for VE Day.
